APAD April # 2 - Colour

Rangoli is a folk art in which patterns are made outside the door during various Hindu festivals, mainly Diwali. The significance of Rangoli is that it welcomes the goddess into the house and is thought to bring good luck. Various materials are used to make rangolis these days - coloured rice, dry flour, coloured sand or flower petals.

This picture is of a Rangoli made by me at Bangalore during Diwali 2009.
